Note from Daria ~  Newsletter 10 Jan 2011

Hello Awakener,

I have SO loved spending three weeks with our fans & members in our Holiday Gift Clear Wisdom sessions.  As always, I am impressed and honored by your potential to Awaken the world and create permanent positive change.

On Friday we posted the final call recording.  WOW!  For Kelly, our first caller, I saw intuitively two transformative info products she easily had within her.  (I can’t wait to buy them myself!)

For Heather, the second caller, I tuned into a transformative program she can create right now that helps people make changes they’ve been meaning to make for a while.  (So often we know but don’t do, right?  BIG demand for that one!)

Get immediate access to these powerful recordings through this post:

Are You Drained By Your Healing or Intuitive Work?

One past teacher of mine said always to make sure I ate lots of protein during a healing day of clients.  Another said not to eat any food w/in a couple hours of seeing clients, since the food pulled you away from the esoteric levels.  I’ve learned countless energy protection techniques over the years…

And I don’t use a one.

What I’ve found is that when you’re truly following your calling and expressing your life’s purpose, it’s invigorating and refreshing!  You don’t worry about picking up energies and feeling cruddy afterwards.  You actually feel better after seeing clients than before.

If this isn’t how your practice or business feels, take a good look at how you are working, your attitudes, your clients, what your’e offering, your life’s purpose, and your healing gifts.  Make sure they are all in alignment with who you really are.

We’ll go into this in detail in our member training this month:  Secrets of the Energetically Secure — it’s all about energy protection that really WORKS and how to stop picking up icky energies from people.

Join here to learn how to stop being drained by the energy vampires in your life:

5 Facts about Awakening: #5 True Success comes only from the shift of Awakening

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Do you seek success?  Do you have a dream? The good old dictionary says success is the favorable end of an effort.  It means reaching a goal or finishing a task.  In a nutshell,
done = success.

Done won’t get you your dreams, however.  Sure, completion is  important, but if all I did was finish the tasks my busy life demands — paying bills, going to work, doing the laundry (woohoo!) — would I be a success?  Would I have truly succeeded at life?  What is missing in this equation?

I personally learned the answer the hard way.  In my early 30s, I followed the dotted lines and achieved everything a girl could possibly want.  My life was picture-perfect.  I was dripping in success.

But I felt miserable and stuck.  I was missing something BIG.  I was missing True Success.

Success Comes in Two Flavors: Temporary and True

Most of the time I say “success,” I mean an idea more like the dictionary’s second definition:  the attainment of wealth, achievement, position, bliss, fame, honor, etc.  This is more than finishing a task.  It goes beyond reacting to your life, beyond just getting by, and beyond coloring inside the lines.  It’s not the kind of success you have to repeat to keep moving forward, like doing laundry is.

This kind of success is an achievement!  It takes you to a new level.  Not only do you finish something, but it is bigger and different than what you had before.  Maybe you want to find the love of your life, live your ideal lifestyle in style, heal yourself of pain and bad habits, or achieve a big goal like making a million bucks before you turn 40.  True success does this in a meaningful, permanent way.  What does your heart desire?

To qualify as True Success, an achievement must have three traits:

1. It came from inside YOU. It began as a decision, a dream, or a choice.  You didn’t follow or just “go along” with someone else’s example or dictates.  You chose to reach for this, and you chose to take steps to implement it.

2. It’s a new direction. True success takes you off the path, out of your well-worn habits of thinking and doing.  You change the direction you would have gone, had you kept doing what you were doing.  Your trajectory changes.  Wonderful things happen you’d never expected or asked for.

3. It sticks. Something shifts and you can’t go back.  You don’t lose it again.  Spiritually, you have “realized” it, really gotten it on all levels in a way that changes who you are.  From there, you can easily help others achieve something similar.  That’s true success.

That’s what we teach you to achieve, right here at the Global Institute for Awakening!

Because true success happens naturally when you advance in your life’s journey of Awakening. True success and Awakening describe the same upshift, the same expansion.  Actively walking your life’s journey means leaving the old ways behind and rising in an upward spiral to greater and greater Potential and possibility — for you, your life, and your loved ones around you.

When you don’t reach for true success, you have temporary success. Whatever you just did, you will likely need to do again, or something similar, over and over.  You will stay in about the same place or advance slowly.  If you do achieve  what looks like True Success, it will slip through your fingers again.

If it doesn’t stick, it wasn’t True Success.  You didn’t shift.

What to Do to Truly Succeed

True success flows naturally from our true nature, which grows, expands positively, loves, serves, and evolves into higher and higher Potential ways of being.  When you learn how that process — the spiritual journey — works, you can reach for the True Success and lift all of us up into a better way of being.  I believe the world could use a whole lot of this right now!

Whatever your goals, this process requires the 7 tasks of Awakening.  (For details and a list of suggestions for each step, get a free copy of our ebook and visual map of the steps in the header bar above.)  They are:

1.  Know Yourself

2.  Build Your Base

3.  Explore Possibility in the World

4.  Be the Change (Practice/Train)

5. Move Beyond Doubt

6. Let Go of Resistance

7. Step It Up (make the next Decision)

So ask yourself:  Do I want to get by?  Do I want to succeed in doing what I did yesterday… again?

Or do I want to dream and move forward into new exciting territory that has a higher Potential for wealth, wellness and wisdom for me, and through me for others?

THAT is the core result of Awakening.  You can’t uplevel without Awakening.  Awakening creates true success.

Are you ready to learn how to shift into true success, over and over, in ANY situation in your life? Make sure you’re working in all 7 tasks, ablove.  If you want help, join as a member to declare your goal to the Universe that you are creating True Success in your life over the next 12 months!

We know you have it in you.  You have a valuable gift for the world to share.  Your nature is to grow and expand and help others.  You can do this!!

Many, many blessings to you on your personal journey of Awakening and true success!

5 Facts about Awakening: #4 Your Awakening is calling to you… can you hear it?

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

You are a spiritual being of consciousness. Your Potential to help, uplift, and heal is unlimited.

On the other hand, you live in a world with limits, move around in a physical body with limits, and run your life with a limited, logical (emotional) mind.  Your everyday life is very “loud” with deadlines, sensory inputs, and probems.

Your spiritual being is very “quiet” and subtle.  It can be challenging to connect with, espeically at first.  Your spiritual self can be easy to overlook or forget about in the daily bustle.

But some part of you knows there is more to life than you can see, buy, or measure.  You can likely feel this part of you calling to you.  It becomes particularly noticeable at times we humans tend to upshift our lives:  during life crises, in your teens, around age 28-30, in our forties, and our mid- to late 50s, for instance.  Here’s why:

Every single person on this planet has something important and unique to contribute to the world in a positive way.  Whether you call that your life purpose, your spiritual mission or your blessing, you have a natural ability in some way to bring a better way of being, thinking, and loving into this world.  You have a talent for helping people love to live their lives more.  We each do this in very different ways,  but we each have something crucial to contribute.

When you don’t get your gift or blessing out into the world, you feel a kind of ache.  Some call this your spiritual calling.  Whatever you call it, if you ignore it, it gets louder and louder until you respond.  It may eventually cause extreme discomfort or crisis in your life until it triggers a response.  Over the years, clients have described their experiences as:

  • Vague dissatisfaction or boredom, even though your life seems pretty darn good on the surface…
  • Feeling cut off, lonely in a crowd, like nobody understands you…
  • A constant search:  new jobs, new classes, new schools, new locations, new partners…
  • An aching emptiness or longing, like a part of you or a close relative has died…
  • Continuous pushback from the world, nothing working out well, feeling like a mess-up…
  • Painful experiences like an accident, illness, death of a loved one, divorce, job loss, finanical failure, etc. that snap you out of your fog.
  • A feeling you should be doing… something… but you don’t know what.

This is your greater potential (some say your higher self) aching to be let out of its box, to do good in the world and help you live a meaningful life that makes a big difference.  This is built into you.  It is your nature and your birthright.  And part of you always is aware of your gifts.

It’s Time to Walk Forward into Your Potential

Many us can hear our purpose and Potential calling to us, but too few know what to do about it.  The soution is: walk your spiritual path.  Get a move on.  Allow your Awakening to unfold.  Taking the leap will help you find that missing part of yourself.  You will love the results.

Don’t leap blindly, of course.  Leap wisely by learning about the journey and how to read the signs along the way.   Do this, and you will see doors open for you.  You can find a way out of your struggles and into the light again.

You might be able to muddle through this life puzzle, this natural process called Awakening.  Or like I was, you may be really stuck and need some help.  Even if you’re a muddler, some guidance and training can make the journey much clearer, easier, and faster.  You can get that spiritual perspective from a mentor you trust, one who believes in you and who can support you advancing along your own path.  Consider joining Global Institute for Awakening with an annual membership full of guidance and inspiration.

Because it took me so long to find this information and get going on my own path, I offer you everything I’ve learned so far, plus stellar supporting advice from experts in their fields, here at the Global Institute for Awakening.  Take a copy of our free Spiritual Journey Wake-Up Kit with our blessings and no further obligation, in the header bar above.  Check our articles in the Category section to the right.

Without your gift, the world just isn’t whole.  Your spiritual being knows this and you can feel it.  I know this, and I’d love to use my gifts to support you here.

Check back tomorrow for the final fact #5 about your Awakening:  Success comes only from Awakening.

5 Facts about Awakening: #3 It is easier to allow your natural Awakening than to resist it

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

What would you do if the solution you were looking for — no, an even better one you hadn’t thought of yet — was waiting for you on the other side of an unlocked door?  You’d open the door and walk through, right?

Of course.

Like this door, the process of Awakening brings new solutions into your life.  It allows you to see beyond your current troubles and zap those limitations.  It gives you the steps and the tools you need to expand into your greatest Potential to live a meaningful life and make a difference.

All you have to do is step forward and open that door.

It can be a bit tricky, however.  Sometimes that unlocked door looks like a difficult task, one you might even label “impossible” at the time.  You may need to let go of something or change your tactics.  It can be stressful, and you may tend to avoid taking action.  But simply by understanding a few facts about your spiritual journey, you can recognize new doors to magical new solutions in your life, and step through them.

Once you understand that it is much easier to allow Awakening and this type of change than it is to resist it, and once you come to trust this fact through your experiences, you will be much better able to push yourself through those doors and into your dreams.  Lots of doors!

Solve the Human Struggle

We’re human.  Our brains are actually hard-wired to be afraid of change, to fear the unknown.  We are wired to prefer predictability and routine.  If we did it yesterday, it will suit today, even if it is painful.  We tend to worry about the future, numb ourselves to pain, and resist change.  You can change this by Awakening.

Most of the pain and struggle in human life comes from resisting our spiritual journey.  It comes from hanging on to things better let go of, ignoring “lessons” and insights, or refusing to change our habits after we do learn a better way.  We suffer when we refuse to get help or ask questions, when we demand that others change first, or we say it doesn’t matter when it does.  That’s our hard-wired, culturally-strengthened human stubbornness, fear of change, and fear for the future at work.

In contrast, our higher or spiritual nature is hard-wired to grow and expand.  It is a powerful force within us that naturally uplifts us into a higher Potential for joy and helping others.  It longs to help, empower, enable, inspire, and heal.  And it shows us new and better doors and solutions all the time, though we aren’t so good at seeing these doors for what they are.

Awakening means shifting out of our brain’s fear and doubt reaction into an expansive, can-do mindset.  You can do this in your life by learning about the process of Awakening, testing it, trusting it, and practicing stepping forward.  (It does become much easier with practice.)

Are You Spiritually Bound and Tied?

For a thousand years in China they used to bind women’s feet, starting in childhood, to keep them tiny.  Like your higher nature and Life itself, however, is the nature of children’s feet to grow, and it is essentially impossible to stop this growth.  The binding itself was severely painful and so were the resulting deformed feet.  This practice was deemed cruel and finally outlawed in 1911.

Yet I look around me and see people who have bound themselves spiritually.  Is this not cruel, too?  They restrict themselves with other people’s tiny ideas of how they should be, or they hold back from following their dream.  They do what they did yesterday.  And in doing so, they have stunted their spiritual growth.  This is extremely painful, so they do their best to numb out.

As humans, we naturally grow and expand spiritually and psychologically our whole lives.  We learn, let go, and move on to learn more.  When we get stuck in our routines, we bind our souls with limitation.  It is painful.  (It distorts your perspective on life, too.  The world seems an ugly horrible place because for you, spiritually, it is.)

On the other hand, when you trust the process of your higher nature and step into that Awakened mindset of expansion, you learn you can create anything you want, now or in the future.  End of fear and worry.  You begin to see there are unlocked doors and solutiosn everywhere.  You just hadn’t noticed before.

And by trusting the process and opening those doors, over and over, you learn that even when there is some work or temporary pain involved in opening that unlocked door, it is much better on the other side.

It is easier to allow your Awakening process than to bind it in a small-thinking, small-living life.

The human struggle is built into us: an eternal, internal tussle between our greater spiritual nature of possibility, growth, and “yes”, with our limited physical/mental nature of doubt, worry, ”not enough”, and “what if…”

Neither side is ”good’ or “bad”, it’s how we are.  The truth is simply this:  to live a happy, productive, meaningful life we must each learn to harmonize our spiritual and physical natures.  We must get them working together.

When we don’t have a process for growth, the suffering can get worse.  Do you know someone who has been thrust on their spiritual path not by a desire to explore their greatest potential to make a difference, but by sudden and devastating loss of some kind: an accident, illness, relationship breakup, natural disaster, death of a loved one, or financial loss?  This type of trauma foces us to look at the areas where our spiritual growth is stunted.  We are forced to figure out what ‘s important in life, to admit we were unhappy, and to find a deeper, more authentic source of joy.

Pain and suffering forces us to make progress on the spiritual journey of Awakening.

Allowing Your Awakening Sets You Free

By starting today to understand and walk your spiritual journey, however, I believe you can avoid potential pain and suffering in the future.  What you need is some basic information about the journey and a daily spiritual practice to keep you moving forward.  (Grab our free ebook in the header above to start, no obligation!  Membership offers a non-religious spiritual practice focus each month.)

Clients and spiritual teachers tell me stories all the time about how it was easier, in hindsight, to move through some challenge that shifted them into a more expansive way of being than it was to stay small and suffering.  It was easier to let go of the avoidance and fears, though they felt no solution was viable at the time, and step onto the path of personal Awakening.  I know this from my own challenging spiritual journey, too!

Walking your spiritual path lets you out of your cage.  Awakening creates healing in your life, even in your body and mind.  Awakening allows you to forgive,  to forget, to stop being so angry or so sensitive, to stop needing ice cream or alcohol or another vacation or that other thing to soothe you.

The natural process of Awakening transforms not only your pain into healing and joy, but helps reduce the struggle of those around you, too.  You become an example for them, a role model, even on an energetic level if you never discuss it with another person.

I hope you too can see now that it is, in fact, easier to allow your Awakening than to struggle against it.  You are a valuable human being, a work of art in my opinion.  I wish you all the best in unfolding your greatest Potential through Awakening.  Go open that door!

5 Facts about Awakening: #2 Awakening naturally transforms pain and struggle into healing and joy

Monday, July 26th, 2010

When you allow and support your Awakening, it not only puts you on top of your game, but positively affects the lives of many others through all you are and do.

Awakening creates new solutions and options.  It opens new doors, solves the once unsolvable, and makes the impossible possible.  The ever-expanding attitude and skills of Awakening typically bring with them wealth, wellnes, and wisdom in increasing amounts.

Yet too often we get in our own way and block our Awakening by grasping at what is, holding grudges, holding negative emotions and fearing change, to name a few.  This causes pain and struggle in our own lives, impeding how much we can help others.  It’s our nature to grow and expand, and when we block that expansion, it hurts.

Human doubt and fear of change keep us stuck with attitudes, beliefs and daily routines that don’t support us and allow us to evolve naturally.  We limp along thinking there is no solution, suffering through business failures, difficult relationships, health issues, confusion, lack of direction, or chronic pain from the past.  We doubt ourselves and desist instead of demanding and seeking a solution in the world.

The worst kind of suffering is not knowing what you are supposed to be doing on the planet, not having a purpose, not knowing you are living a meaningful life that makes a difference.  It creates painful indecision, doubt and stagnation.

To make it worse, as we suffer, we misinterpret religious and cultural advice that says suffering is actually noble.  Martyrdom is so 2nd century, people – that’s not what they meant!  That old idea admits that suffering cleanses us.  Suffering and pain do this by overwhelming our routines and assumptions.  Suffering and pain force us to seek our spiritual path again.  Agony helps us finally want to let go and move on, to think bigger and to clean up our act.

It is actually advancing on the spiritual path of Awakening that is noble.  And it is the gentle growth process of Awakening that provides the relief.

Awakening eliminates fear and doubt.  It brings purpose and meaning.  It creates new solutions and more expansive ways of looking at your life that you hadn’t thought of before.  It creates joy and happiness like you can’t imagine right now.  Awakening gets you to a place where you jumpt out of bed in the morning knowing exactly how to make a difference and contribute to the improvement of the world with everything you do.  And then it takes you even further into bliss.

Why Wait?

You don’t have to wait for suffering and pain to begin to transform your life into healing and joy that you can use to help others.  To get unstuck and on your path again, you just need three things:

1. An understanding of the spiritual journey, its goals, stages, how it works, and what you have to do to succeed brilliantly.  You must learn to recognize and trust phases of your journey, so you can push through that hard-wired fear and walk forward into growth and healing.  (Get a copy of our free ebook in the header at the top of this site for a nice overview with no obligation.)

2. An understanding of your spiritual and physical nature and the Universe and how it all fits together.  Learn to navigate the world well by knowing and trusting the cycles of nature and life, so you can use them to your mutual advantage.  (We teach this in plain language.)

3. A flexible daily practice or routine to keep you moving along the path and to get you unstuck fast when you hit a glitch.  (We teach this too, in our membership benefits.)

Awakening breaks longtime patterns of pain and struggle.  It destroys old baggage.  It heals by its nature, and it awakens your ability to help others heal.  By consciously unfolding your Potential, you become a natural leader and role model for others, just by being yourself.

Are you ready to love your life?  I am personally in a healed place of such joy that I could not have even wished for this earlier in my life.  It’s been a long road, but I’m here to help you walk yours a lot smarter and faster.  If you’d like help transforming your pain and suffering into purpose, meaning, healing, and joy, then check out our membership benefits right now:  http://GIAwaken.com/benefits

Tomorrow, look for our next installment of fact #3: it is easier to Awaken than to resist it.

5 Facts about Awakening: #1 You are never not Awakening

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

If you are alive, then Awakening is a natural human process you are going through right now.   Whether you are aware of it or not, your Awakening affects the state of your health, relationships, finances, business/career success, emotional state, and your ability to live a great life.

It’s the nature of Life itself to grow and that includes you.  In your childhood, your physical body grows, but throughout your life, you also grow emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually.  You grow in knowledge and wisdom.  You grow in your ability to truly, deeply love yourself and others.  You grow in your ability to serve others and give back.  You grow in being able to be happy and at peace with your life.  This natural progression is your Awakening.

In fact, if you want to reach your greatest Potential to be happy, live a meaningful life, make a difference, and leave the planet a better place than when you arrived, then you want to make steady, quick progress in your Awakening!

As you explore the world and advance through your Awakening, you discover what you love and what you hate, what you are good at and what you refuse to do.  Awakening is also a journey into yourself to discover your unique gifts for the world and then get them out there successfully.  It’s your spiritual journey to have trust and faith so you can let go of past events and other illusory limitations to live a life brimming with wellness, wealth and wisdom.

Awakening is how you create your dream life.  Who wouldn’t want that?

Yet, when you resist this natural process of your Awakening, you suffer.  Blocked Awakening is largely unrecognized as the main source of humanity’s greatest challenges, problems, senseless destruction, and pain.

What’s exciting is this:  that means working with the process of Awakening to unblock it and advance it is often missed as a source of effective solutions.  Sometimes downright miraculous solutions.

The more you allow yourself to awaken, the more wealth, wellness and wisdom not only flow into your life, but flow through your life to benefit others.  That means yes, you can change the world by changing yourself.  You can heal the world by healing yourself.

And you can do anything you want to do better and easier by Awakening.

This is why we are so excited to help our members and fans understand and advance along their personal paths of Awakening.  We don’t tell them what to believe, but we give them the map to their journey, the wisdom and tools to move through trouble spots on the path, plus the inspiration to keep going.

You too can grab a FREE copy our map and guide to Awakening in the header bar above.  There’s no obligation.  Take it with our blessings!

Then check back here on Monday for the next fact you need to understand about your own brilliant Awakening.

Past life “A-HA” moment #4

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

This concludes the discussion of a past life vision I had.  To avoid reading the plot twist first, start down three posts at #1…

So here’s the part that shocked me recently. A couple months after this vision, I was retelling the exciting tale to a friend — and in a flash, I suddenly realized something astonishing. The holy man’s choice, which I so admired as “doing the right thing” and felt was impressive because it involved such a personal sacrifice — was completely selfish and wrong.

My mouth dropped open and my stomach rolled. I saw everything from a completely different angle. He/I had simply taken the easy way out of a big conflict.  The holy man threw the sacred things into the sea.  He threw away the things he was supposed to guard with his life and walked away from it all.

Yes, he had to live alone for the next 20 years, sacrificing time with family and friends, missing seeing his daughter grow up.  But that was apparently easier to him than challenging his abusive younger brother’s attempt to take over both the village and the sacred things.  He/I was the elder and should have stepped into the role of leader after the death of our father and eldest brother.  I had more of a right to lead the village, but he was bigger, angrier, nastier, and more willful.  This past me won one battle, kept the sacred things undefiled by dropping them in the sea, but he lost everything else.  He also in a sense betrayed the entire village, and then left them to live with his brother!

Yet even now, I can see him/me, so vividly, at the end of his life.  He looks up and sees the small tent of animal skins and sticks that make the roof of his snow shelter.  He lies very comfortably in a pocket bed carved in the snow.  His deathbed, and I can hear his death rattle.

How did we connect in meditation?  Was he calling to me from there?  Was he telling me not to make the same mistake in this lifetime?  Was he telling me to stand up for my own power and fight?

I am so grateful for these multiple profound insights, and the experience itself.  I loved how the whole thing unwound like an epic movie, too.  How many meditations did that holy man in the wilderness have to do to get this message to me now?  Thank you, thank you.

Past life “A-HA” moment #3

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Hi!  I’m continuing to contemplate a vivid past-life vision I had in meditation a few months ago…

Now, a fascinating thing about this vision is that the cantankerous village leader I saw (my younger brother) was someone in my life right now with whom I also don’t get along well. For several weeks after the vision, I thought about this. In that long-ago village as brothers our relationship clearly was, and is now, a power struggle. Who would win?  He wanted what he wanted, to take over the village. But that interfered with me being true to myself and doing what I knew I had to do — my sacred duty, passed down from father to son, to keep the village’s sacred things. To be true to my being and my life mission, I couldn’t give in to him.  I couldn’t give him the sacred things because I felt he would unfairly use them to manipulate the village and he’d desecrate them to boot. (And have I mentioned I was so proud of that “me” for standing up for my sacred duty and not giving in!)

This made me realize in many ways how important it is for me to stand up for me and my life mission now, to truly be me, express me, allow my light to shine.  It gave me insight into a thread in my current relationship that I hadn’t seen before.

I am so grateful for this vision for allowing me to see that anew.  Seeing it played out so vividly totally kicked me into high gear.  I can see now how I’ve been sabotaging my success to date — just a little success was OK, but I haven’t wanted to stick my neck out too far and offend this person… Well, I’m back, and this expanding blog is just one part of my emergence. I’m glad you’re sharing this experience with me.

How about you?  Are you hiding your light?  Are you allowing life circumstances to interfere with successfully doing what you were born to do?  Are you ready to emerge?

When you live your light, you live in divine love and you can’t help but be successful.  Life flows.  We all have that divine light within us, waiting for our individual expression.  Go for it.  Let it out.  You are a perfect being, loved and valued for your uniqueness.  Please share it with us!

Next time, I promise to share the shocking twist and conclude this story.

Past Life “A-HA” Moment #2

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

So I’m continuing to talk about a vivid past-life meditation I had…

Here is the main story: “I”/he, the main character is a Keeper of the Sacred Things in an east Russia-ish village a couple hundred years ago.  He made a major choice to protect the sacred things of our village from his power-hungry younger brother — a difficult choice that got him kicked out of his village by said brother for the rest of his life, leaving his daughter behind.  He lived and died alone in the wilderness.

After experiencing this meditative vision, I was immediately so impressed with this strong choice.  I admired him for making it.  I’m not sure I’d have the wherewithal to do anything like that in my current life.  Heck, I bragged to friends about how well he honored his sacred duty.  I mean wow, to protect the sacred things in a power crisis, he sacrificed everything his heart held dear: his village, family and friends, his life purpose (protect and care for the sacred things–no more of that), and even the sacred things themselves.

Oh, yes, perhaps I should mention that in a beautiful and respectful ceremony he put them where nobody would ever reach them again, quite to the shock and dismay of the villagers.  This was technically what got him banned on the spot when they returned.  He had to turn and walk out of the village with nothing.  But he did this to keep his brother from getting the sacred things and misusing them as he manipulated and took over the village.

Yes, quite a coup, I thought.  He triumphed!  He saved the sacred things from defilement and being used to hurt others.  Yay!

But I was mistaken, quite mistaken. More tomorrow.

Daria’s past life “A-HA” moment #1

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Do you believe in past lives? Since I was a kid I’ve been drawn to the idea, but my scientific mindset would not accept the possibility.  Even though a few situations in my 9-year healing practice have made me wonder about past lives too, I put the idea of reincarnation in my “I’m Not Sure” basket.  It has been there for a long, long time.  To anyone who talked about past lives, my challenge was this: “So what? Why does it matter? How does it help you now?”

Well, I have answered that question for myself.

Secretly, I’ll admit, I loved the idea of reincarnation.  Everyone gets as many chances as they need.  Everyone is equally valuable and nobody is “chosen” over anyone else.  There is always hope and love for what is, exactly as it is.  You just can’t go “wrong”, because when you fail you learn and you get to try again.

So last year, for the sake of curiosity, I did a past life regression meditation with a dear friend and colleague.  When we are together, our energy abilities and psychic “talents” dramatically increase, which can be fun.  In this unexpectedly vivid meditation, I saw, like a movie complete with a plot twist at the end, the life of a man (me) who had lived as a sort of Keeper of Sacred Things for a small village in eastern Russia.  I saw unique clothing, culture, boats, tents and other things I’d never seen before.

At one point, the meditation asked us to learn who in this vision was also in our current lives, and I saw a few people that overlapped.  Thinking about it afterwards, pondering the similarities between someone’s character in that life and this one, was very instructive.  I had a massive “A-HA” moment with one person that really helped me nail down an issue in our relationship.  It helped me name something I couldn’t put my finger on until now, helped me see it from a completely different angle, and immediately start to let it go.  It was extremely valuable for my healing.

So that’s how past lives help now!  Whether you believe they are real or something like a representational waking dream or meditative vision, they can shed light on our current struggles and help us solve them.

This story also has a plot twist, which I will continue in the next post…
